A day in the life:
7:00am: He is up and at 'em with Anna in tow.
Breakfast: His norm is milk, half a banana, and cereal. He loves cooking a hot breakfast with Dave.
Morning: After morning chores, he gets right to school work. Math is usually his favorite subject to start first.
Lunch: He fixes his own lunch, usually a sandwich or salad followed by a fruit.
1:00pm: Nap time! Josiah reads for the first hour and has his choice of quiet solo play time after that.
3:00pm: We finish any school that needs finishing and then play outside or run errands.
Dinner: Josiah loves to help prepare dinner. He is a good eater! Favorite is still mac and cheese.
7:00pm: Ready for bed. He gets 30 mins to read in the loft before climbing into his bunkbed.
How we celebrated:
This was a unique, quarantine birthday, but God gave us perfect weather and good spirits. Josiah took great care to plan his birthday meals. We started the day with orange juice, sausage, and cinnamon rolls. We took the day off of school, so spent the morning opening gifts, talking to family, and making lunch. He chose a rainbow lunch: strawberries, carrots, mac&cheese, green beans, blueberries, and grape kool-aid. During nap time Josiah got to choose a movie and went with Curious George. We ended the day with a trip to Jaggers, playtime on the playground at church (a rare treat in the era of covid-19), and cake. Josiah fully designed and decorated his cake this year- a very Josiah thing to do!
Fun facts:
* He has asked for a cat regular on holidays for the past few years. Last summer we cat-sat Shelby and Josiah was her chief caretaker. He had a ball . . . and we avoided becoming a pet family for another year!
* He was baptized on November 24, 2019!
* Josiah finished his reading curriculum this year. Yay!
* Josiah took a soccer skills camp over the winter and we decided to sign him up for his very first soccer season this spring. Alas, hopefully next season he will get to play.
