Happy 3 years, Anna!

We no longer have a 2-year-old in the house . . . it is a surreal thing! That said, the past year with our Anna has been a special one, and one full of growth and change. Our hearts overflow with thankfulness for our littlest one.

Weight: 39 lb 9 oz (taken 9/6)
Height: 3' 1.5"
Diaper: pull ups and undies!
Clothing: 4T
Shoes: size 8

Likes: ballet tutus, bubbles, making up songs, swinging, dancing

Dislikes: hair wash night, not being understood

Schedule:
7:00- Awake and ready for the day
Morning- plays while we do school, especially loves play dough and dancing
1:00- Nap
3:00- She enjoys playing outside or running errands
7:00- Bedtime!

Sleep: Anna has become a mostly consistent sleeper. She continues to take a good afternoon nap, while being big enough to be able to happily skip the afternoon nap. This makes available a lovely amount of flexibility. We moved her to the toddler bed when we moved to the new house- she has done really well!

Physically: This girl has the most beautiful head of long shiny hair. It is just gorgeous, and always in her her face. She is squishy, but tall, and fair skinned. Her eyes perfectly match Dave's! When I think about how she is walking I hear in my head, "can I run, mom?" which is a frequent question when we go on walks around the neighborhood. Her run doesn't look efficient or natural, but she cackles while she does it and is making good progress.

Food: Anna isn't too picky about food- her mood determines way more about how she eats than what she is served. She has a thing about being messy, so she really likes a fork and REALLY likes it if someones else just feeds her. It will be interesting to see how this pans out as she grows! Favorite foods are mac and cheese, blue berries, green beans, and all things sweet or desired by her siblings.

Communication: We have a seen great progress in Anna's communication, but she is probably still a little behind for her age. One thing I love is that she has become more expressive with her words- she makes up songs, tells back something funny that happened in her day, and relays memories. We don't always know what she is saying, but her eyes light up as she speaks and it is just wonderful. Her bad habit- giving a quick yell when things don't go her way. Now that is a work in progress. :)

Potty training: It is going well! We still put a pull up on her at night, but have found that if we don't give her milk right before bed she often stays dry. We are on the right track! She actually finds it much easier to use the potty than her diaper, which is great.

Fun Things:
* She loves to pretend to be someone else- Loretta from Miles From Tomorrowland, Lena from Sunday School, Laura from Little House on the Prairie- she loves them all!
* Anna is still hesitant crossing a surface change and using stairs, but she CAN do it all and is getting lots of practice and growing in confidence.
* She calls Josiah "Siah-Niah" . . . he says she is only one who can call him that :)
* Favorite songs are Twinkle Twinkle, Jesus Love Me, Praise God, and anything the big kids are singing. Lydia recently learned a song to remember the planets, so that has been a recent favorite.
* She always gets a book to check out and hold on the way home from the library. Pinkalicious is a favorite, mostly because that is where Lydia heads in the library :)
* Anna's version of gymnastics will make us smile everyday. It is a very serious, intentional, dramatic flop every time :)
* Back in the fall Anna had her chin glued back together. She also went to the ER when her elbow was pulled out of sock. We learn new things with each child . . . this year it was how to fix a nursemaid elbow!

A chronological look at the past year:

Basement coloring with her Lydia.

Braid!

Big enough to get her own silverware.
(Though she couldn't see in the drawer, she just knew the little spoons were in the front!)

Physical therapy graduate!
Our super achiever!

We were able to avoid stitches, but Anna did become our first child to be glued back together.
A normal fall and she just hit the floor the wrong way.

Watching fireworks at the seminary. She loved them and cackled every time one exploded!

Best brother. We usually just get three kids meals, which means only three ice  creams.
He is often the first to share!

Dressed up to help dad.

The cutest potty-trainee around.

A couch full between these growing girls!

Falling asleep in places other than her bed seems to be a theme of the year . . .  fourth child problems!

The day we were without power/heat and she napped in the church nursery.

Fashion show!

She graduated to her own suitcase this Christmas and loved it!

We miss being able to dig in the back yard.

Happy matchies!

Doing "nastics" just like her Sarah.
Face planting and loving it!

Matching eyes!

Last night as a two year old!!!

And now she is THREE!!!

We started the day with Long's Donuts and the park/splash pad.

And ended with a purple princess cake per the birthday girl's request.
We love you, Anna, and love doing life with you!!!
