Spring teaches us so much about our God. Life blooms from dead, empty ground and is spread by the wind and the bees to all the soil around, much in the same way it came from a dead tomb and brought life to the world years ago. Then animals come and we can see the wisdom of our creator in birds, rabbits, and insects. The weather and the strawberries make you wonder if God really has saved the best for the new Kingdom. It's my favorite time of year, and it moves my heart to worship our powerful and wise God.
Follow Dave, Emily, Sarah, Josiah, Lydia, and Anna Cook as we live what Christ has prepared for us.

Spring Birds
One of the most surprisingly fun wedding gifts we received was a bird-feeder. It made our apartment feel more like a home throughout the Winter, but now that Spring has come it has filled our porch with birds of all types. It's caused us to put our telephoto lens (itself a gift to Dave some years ago) to good use, taking these pictures. We hope you like them. And if you know any of these bird types, aside from the cardinal, please let us know.

Bird #1 - Marcus
ReplyDeleteBird #3 - Phoebe
Bird #4 - Jose (he has just recently moved to this part of the world)
Bird #5 - Cathy the Cardinal -> as you so noted
:) hope this helps!
uhh...my numbering was a bit off...sorry!
ReplyDeleteBird # 2 is a dove (Bam!!) just like we hunt in the fall. BTW, I saw a male cardinal feeding bird seed to a female on our feeder this week. "Aww...." I said, "That's sweet." Robbie then said, "That's just like I do-- cooking you blueberry hoecakes every Sunday." Cardinals mate for life...but they only live for one year, so it's not like they retire to a bird retirement home in Florida after 30 years.
ReplyDeleteLove, Aunt Karen
p.s. awesome photographs-- so clear.
picture #1 is a house sparrow, #2 is a dove and # 3 is a cow bird
ReplyDeleteThis was copied and pasted from a Mr. Mark email, You can trust him -- he has a spotting scope with a bird book nearby.
At Ma's today she had lots of cow birds on her feeder. That's a new bird to me. We also put up her hummingbird feeder and she already has some eating. She was very happy!
Love you all three!
These pictures are SO GOOD and so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe second picture is a mourning dove. The next one down is a grackle. The first picture I "think" is a sparrow - hard to tell from that angle exactly the color and size. If not a sparrow and, if it is small, it could be a house finch.
