Happy 1 month, Lydia!

Ahhh, a new beginning . . . here is Lydia's first monthly update! Our month getting to know Lydia has truly been a joy. She is a relatively happy baby and the delight of her brother and sister. We have seen her become a more confident eater, deeper sleeper, and more alert little girl. In a fresh way we are enjoying having Lydia as a baby. We soak up her snuggles and don't worry if she falls asleep in our arms rather than in the pack n' play. The Lord is growing us as parents and we so very thankful!

Weight: 12 lbs 5 oz (99%)
Length: 24 in (98%)
Head: 15 in (90%)

[For the sake of comparison, at her 6 day weight check she was 9 lbs 1 oz, 21 inches long, and had a 14 inch head circumference. At 3 weeks and 3 days we did a nursing weight check and she was (clothed) 11 lbs 4 oz at the beginning and 11 lbs 13 oz after eating. When weight changes that much after a feeding it makes every weigh-in seem very relative!]

Nursing: Lydia continues to be a healthy eater. She is faster than the others were at this age, which is very convenient. She spits up occasionally, which the big kids didn't do much, but we have seen it taper and we aren't worried that it is reflux.

Schedule: We are flexible, she is flexible, life is good. From the beginning we have been a little more easy going about cluster feedings and abnormal cycles. We still generally try for a feed, wake, sleep routine and try to start Lydia's day around 7am.

Sleep: Praise the Lord, Lydia is a pretty good sleeper. During the day she usually has a couple of sleepy cycles and a couple of alert cycles, but at night she is usually very settled and goes right back to sleep after eating. She took a pacifier when offered at day 5 and hasn't looked back. It is very soothing to our girl who was born with her hand next to her mouth!

Physically: Lydia still has just the littlest bit of dark hair. It hasn't started to grow, but hasn't started falling out either. Her eyes are definitely dark and it is looking like we will have another brown eyed girl on our hands. She likes tummy time! Twice this week she has fallen asleep while on her tummy.

Next appointment: Monday, November 10, 2014 at 10:40- this will be a joint well visit with Josiah, who has a 2.5 year check up
