Happy 5 months, Lydia!

Our big girl is five months old! Lydia is such a delight. She is a content baby with a big love for new tricks.

Diapers: size 4 and cloth
Clothing: 9 & 12 month (I pretty much missed her whole time in 6 months clothes- by the time I pulled them out she was already busting the snaps through the torso!)

Likes: splashing, "talking", attention from Sarah and Josiah, scooting on her belly, watching her fingers and making "praying hands"
Dislikes: being tired, being held when she is ready to roll around and stretch out

Schedule: Not really sure where we stand here. At the beginning of the month she was on a three hour schedule, moved to a four month schedule of her own desire, then went crazy and was eating every two hours and waking up at night. Growth spurt is my best guess!

7:30am Awake for the day!   Nurse
8:30-11am   Nap
11am   Nurse
12:30-3pm   Nap
3pm   Nurse
4:30-7pm   Nap
7pm   Nurse
7:30 or 8pm   Back down for bed
9:30 or 10pm   Dream feed and down for the night!

Sleep: Lydia continues to be very good to us as a sleeper. She doesn't sleep as much when we are out and about, but tends to be pretty happy even if she misses a nap. Going down isn't a battle and she still loves her fingers/thumbs. She sometimes sleeps on her tummy now that she is rolling, but I think she sleeps the deepest on her back.

Physically: Rolling began for Lydia on January 13 just after Dave left for work. I like to put her down on her back and she usually will go straight to her belly. (Thus far, she almost always rolls to her right.) In the past week she has started to do a lot of scooting, spinning, pushing herself backwards, and sometimes going up on all fours. She leaves drool trails all over any room she is in! Just a few days ago she rolled from tummy to back, but hasn't made barrel rolling her favorite mode of transport just yet. We pulled out the jumper this morning and she was a big fan!

Food: We got the go ahead to start solids at her four month appointment, but plan to wait until closer to six months to begin since she is sleeping well and gaining plenty of weight. Experience tells us that exclusive nursing is just much more simple than the exciting days of spoon feeding to come! The old recommendation to begin with cereal has been revised to beginning with any fruit or veggie puree. It will be fun to see what she enjoys!

Next appointment: Friday, March 6 at 10:15am

sweet sleeping cheeks :)

just thinking about rolling

Sometimes we go to church just to run around . . . winter is real!

There are five of us, so we held up our fives.

Lydia was not impressed with our fives.
