Happy 2 months, Anna!

We have enjoyed getting to better know Anna over the last few weeks. She is a joy! Anna is so easy going right now and patient with us all. I couldn't imagine a more perfect fit for our family.

Weight: 15 lbs 13 oz (99%)
Length: 25 in (99%)
Head: 40 cm <-- no percentile because the computers were down
[Fun fact: I fed her during the appointment and weighed her again. She was 16 lbs 2.5 oz after eating.]

Nursing: She contines to eat really well and is adding lots of rolls to her increasingly chubby little body. After her first bottle we didn't make an effort to give her bottles regularly. As a result, she has had trouble latching on to bottles. She also doesn't naturally take a pacy, so we are also working on that!

Sleep: Anna is waking up once or twice a night and mercifully giving us some longer stretches. Her best night was 8 hours between feedings. Six hours is probably a normal length if she only wakes up once. On nights that she wakes up twice it is only 3 or 4 hours between feedings and it feels like the days just blend together. Yikes! She generally goes back to sleep right after I feed her now, which is wonderful. She is sometimes really gassy as she goes to sleep, which can be really loud and really funny.

Physically: Anna still has most of her hair, but is developing a bald patch right in the middle of the back of her head. We get a few smiles here and there and sweet conversational coos more often. She had a thorough case of baby acne right around the one month mark and it has fully cleared at this point. She doesn't mind tummy time at all, but doesn't lift her chest as much as the other kids. She often just puts her head to the side and surprisingly doesn't doze off.

Routine: We are still following the Babywise suggestion of feed, wake, sleep cycles. I wake Anna around 7:30am to start her day. She then stays awake for 50 mins to 1 hour and I put her back down to sleep for about 2 hours. It seems to work well for her. This cycle continues throughout the day. She generally eats around 7:30am, 10:30am, 1:30pm, 4:30pm, 6:30pm, and then at least one more feeding and often two before I go to sleep. It gets tricky after dinner and we often give her a nap in the shaky chair to help her sleep before doing a dream feed.

At her appointment: This was the first of three big vaccination appointments. Her little legs hurt her pretty bad in the evening, but after a good nap she seemed back to normal.

Next appointment: We have to call to schedule it! The computers were down the day of her well visit. [Side note: we are going to be in trouble if they stop teaching doctors and nurses to chart without a computer. Our appointment took 2 hours!!!]

Josiah is loving his promotion to the middle seat and being Anna's guardian.
(Even if his dazed eyes don't show it!)
