Happy 10 years, Josiah!

This was a big year for our boy! We are so proud of all he has accomplished and the many ways he has grown.

Weight: 78 lbs 6.4 oz
Height: 5'
Clothes: size 10
Shoe: size 7

Likes: reading, climbing trees, being home, making pancakes/waffles

A day in the life:

7:00am: Josiah's room received an overhaul this year and he now has two beds to choose from at night. Occasionally he comes down right at 7am, but often he catches a few extra winks- especially on school days :)

Breakfast: He loves making pancakes. Normal breakfast is Cheerios/Raisin Bran Crunch and milk.

Morning: This is school time! He loves reading, and doesn't love spelling. Math probably falls somewhere in the middle. Reading about science is a particular favorite! And days we get to go to our homeschool group, Classical Conversations, are the best.

Lunch: What can't he put pepperoni on? :) Josiah loves leftovers, or a sandwich or salad.

1:00pm: We do a little clean up (Josiah's favorite job is wiping the table) and then have a rest time. Josiah finishes any school that is left, reads, and plays in his room.

3:00pm: Playtime! He loves being outside with the neighbors.

Dinner: Josiah's favorites are pizza, tacos, and pesto sandwiches.

7:00pm: We strive to be ready for bed by 7pm and he has until 8pm to read. This year he has developed some helpful Bible reading habits during this time.

How we celebrated:
Josiah's 10th birthday was extra special. We celebrated the week before with an Andes cake, bowling, and gifts. The couple of days before his birthday were spent hiking the Bright Angel Trail into the Grand Canyon, camping, and climbing back out. The day of we said goodbye to the Grand Canyon and went to Horseshoe Bend State Park. He had a special orange cake and Burger King for dinner, then played in the hotel pool.

Fun facts:

* Josiah was one of the older kids on his soccer team this year. He scored several goals!

* He has gotten comfortable enough in the kitchen to really be cooking! He loves to make pancakes, mac and cheese, and brownies. He tried a few new recipes, including chicken nuggets and a mirror glaze cake.

* No surprise, he is great with little kids.

* In the fall he won 1st place in an essay contest for 4th graders in Indiana. It was a great paper on the theme "Indiana's great outdoors".

* He also hiked into the Grand Canyon and had lots of fun camping with his dad.
